germs and wheezes?

I haven't been doing much recently as I have had a cold from hell. Usually when I have had colds I manage to get rid of it easily. Just a couple of lemsips and keeping warm seems to do the trick. But the cold I have at the moment just will not budge. After all I tried failed I decided the best thing to try was my doctor. I telephoned her and told her the trouble I was having and she aggreed and got my usual chemist to bring me a strong anti-biotic. Hopefully it will do the trick as I do not want to spend much more time like this.

The First World War (and my part in it ).

I have a real interest in world war one, the battles which occured are so real to me I feel as if I was there in the trenches. When I see the battle of the Somme I am sure I was there, going over the top as they used call it when you used to leave the trenches. We were told that as we left the trenches to walk, there was no need to run as all the enemy (The Germans ) had been killed by the massive bombardment which preceeded us. As we neared the german trenches we were surprised to find we were under very heavy machine gun fire and my mates were being cut down as quick as anything. This battle was the biggest loss suffered by Britain in one day. I had managed to survive and was helping my comrades as much as I could, and managed to get back to my line, where there were many dead and dying soldiers.I can still feel the chill of that day as if I was there. (I think I was there, DO YOU???).

Having my time again in this life?

I thought the other day to myself, if only I could live my life again knowing what I know now. The first thing I would change would be my education and realising how important it was. When I was at school we
messed around and didn't pay attention.(I wish I'd tried harder).
The second thing would have been my first job as an apprentice motor mechanic. Now I realise I wish I hadn't packed it up after two years and finished the four years. Since I finished my first job I never settled into another. My girl friends dad used to call me eight job Les or mop and bucket, as I used to clean windows or wash cars. I used to think I could do anything. But there was a difference between thinking I could do something and doing it properly. On the last day at the garage they took me to a small pub which was nearby. What I think now is that I would appreciate the danger connected with alcohol and how it can affect people in diffent ways. I lost some very good jobs and friends through drinking too much. I quit drinking in 1981 and have never regretted it.

Wheel Claming in Parsons Green.

I have to tell you how amazed I was the other day. I have had to have my medicine delivered by my local chemist. They bring my prescription every Monday evening regularly. The last time the girl bringing my pills had a nasty shock. When she got back to her car the man was there putting a clamp it. She told him that she had delivered my tablets and had only been five minutes. The man from a private company carried on clamping and gave her a ticket for £125 which she paid straight away and he unclamped her. Isn't it about time these clampers saw some common sense and showed a bit of give and take instead of take, take. I have since written to the company asking them to show some compassion in this case

Sunberry ILS (Independant Living Service)

Sunberry Independant Living Service is at 147 Stevenage Road S.W.6. There are a varying number of people who use it. When you start attending you would be allocated a keyworker who would try to help if you had a problem. It is attended by disabled people and the staff encourage us to do things for ourselves. There are several groups you can go to (fitness, relaxation support group, art ) and many more. You are welcomed by some marvllous staff and nice atmosphere which will encourage you to join in.I am writing to-day about the up and coming changes that might be about to happen. Everything is not crystal clear at the moment (27-1-11) to me. It would seem from all the meetings we have had that Sunberry will no longer exist after June '1911'. The service users have had nothing in writing from the council, and yet people still say Sunberry will be gone at some time in the future. We have been told the service users in the north and south of the borogh will be split between Elgin and Imperial Wharf. I will not be against this decision, but it is the not knowing.
I will give more updates as I find out more. Les.
